Here is why we’re doing this:

These Leather classics are unreachable … when they can even be located. They formed the foundations of Leather culture as we know it today, but they are essentially forgotten because they are inaccessible. And even when they are accessible, the royalties and profits don’t go to the authors or the community they built, but to secondhand sellers who are usually outside the community.

Our task at Safeword Press is to put these classics back on your nightstand so you can read them, consider what they have to say, and put them to use. This part of our Leather history should not be left behind or forgotten.

As the old GLBTQ presses have fallen, so have their catalogs. Many have been lost or assimilated into other holdings and effectively taken out of print. Safeword Press plans to excavate more of these lost catalogs and bring them back—both fiction and non-fiction.

Farther down the road, Safeword Press may also open up to new submissions for Leather and BDSM titles—fiction and non-fiction—through an imprint, Malypense Books. There is no reason why the best days of the Leather GLBTQ press must be behind us.

This is what we do—and dishonored be those who think ill of it.
